Receiving an invite to Greenville Thursday Night Throwdown (GVLTNT) was a little like receiving an official Hogwarts letter- “Yer a coffee wizard, ‘Arry!”
We spend the majority of our adulthood learning to not only deal with the different aspects of our lives, but also how to compartmentalize them. Leaving personal crises at home and dealing with them there: this is a practical and necessary way to live when you work in customer service. But, you know, life is still hard sometimes.
I'll never forget the day that Aaron waltzed into my heart, carrying a Tupperware container full of scratch-made avocado ice cream flavored with raspberry jam and pistachios. I tasted that green goodness and became a changed woman. Avocados? Pistachios? Raspberries?? I'll be honest with you guys, I would have never imagined those three ingredients as an ice cream- but Aaron did. Like I said: flavor genius.
Josh is a truly fantastic addition to the Charlotte coffee community. Not only is he a work horse with an almost superhuman ability to close down an entire coffee shop in under 15 minutes, but he has an incredibly gentle soul and genuine interest in the people around him.
Fall has arrived and what better way to get it started than with a nice little autumn playlist? Amongst all of the PSL’s, apple picking and cozying up by an outdoor bonfire (because you know that’s gonna happen!), you definitely need some music to accompany your adventures.

It was joked that the sharply-dressed male baristas should start a hipster boy band, since they obviously already possessed the ability to make crowds go wild.
I encounter a lot of confusion behind the coffee counter, mostly because of a lot of the coffee misinformation that's floating around out there. I'm not going to claim that my definitions below are the end-all, be-all... but in the course of my coffee career I've seen all of these play out to be mostly accurate definitions. Write me via Carrier Pigeon if they're not.
It boils down to this: if I’m going to leave the comfort of my fluffy bed on a chilly day, I need the motivation of an opportunity to try something different. I’m bored with the tired beverages of autumns past! Let’s get weird.
Neil Strauss wrote The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists as a how-to guide for getting laid. I detest this shit rag for its glorification of horny nerdsters tricking women into consent; yet, The Game led me to an important realization. I discovered the origins of The Barista Crush.
Spoiler Alert: her favorite Spice Girl was Baby Spice.
